NOW AVAILABLE! Phase Equilibria Diagrams, (Standard Reference Database SRD 31), published from 1964 to 1992 as the well-known Phase Diagrams for Ceramists "blue books", is the result of a long-standing collaboration between NIST and The American Ceramic Society to develop and maintain a state-of-the-art database of critically evaluated phase equilibria data for industrial and academic customers. The diagrams serve as maps of the equilibrium chemical and structural behaviors exhibited by materials (non-organic, non-metallic) and provide critical starting information for the rational design of processing schemes, for quality assurance efforts, for optimization of physical and chemical properties, and for the development of new materials. The Phase Equilibria Diagrams Database contains commentaries and more than 29,000 diagrams, including those published in all 21 hard-copy issues: Volumes I through XIV ("blue books"); Annuals 91, 92, 93; High Tc Superconductors I & II; special‐Volume P (phosphorus‐containing); Zirconium & Zirconia Systems; and Electronic Ceramics I. (Publication of hard‐copy books was discontinued after Vol. 14.) The content includes experimental and calculated data for a wide range of non‐organic material‐types including oxides and mixed systems with oxides, chalcogenides (sulfides, selenides, tellurides), pnictides (N, P, As, Sb, Bi), actinides (U, Pu, Th) and actinide‐surrogates (Ce), oxy‐cation systems (e.g. molybdates, vanadates), semiconductors (Si, Ge, Sn), group 3 systems (B, Al, Ga, In, Tl), and salts including mixed systems with salts. Version 4.4 is similar to the previous series 4 versions and functions with the same software that resulted from a comprehensive upgrade of the content management system (CMS), the user interface, and the graphics digitization/interactive-viewing program (PED Editor). The new CMS is a custom‐developed web‐based system running under Ubuntu Linux using the Ruby programming language. The system uses Nginx web server, an SQLite database, the Route scheduling system, and an object relational mapper for the GUI. The user interface is browser‐based and includes help icons at each user‐input location. The phase diagrams can be viewed and manipulated interactively; in addition, all PED Figures are available as complete .pdf files which are similar in quality to those in the previously printed books. Users are able to perform keyword searches of the critical evaluations of all PED Figures, allowing them to associate material systems with any potential applications mentioned by Contributing Editors in the commentary text. All graphics files in the collection are present in the updated format, enabling all diagrams to be printed as high‐quality .pdf files Materials researchers please note: The PED Editor, developed at NIST by Eric Boesch, is available for free Download PED Editor and can be used (1) to digitize phase diagrams and (2) to extract data from phase diagrams or other two-dimensional scientific drawings. (The PED Editor is a custom-developed Java program which uses the iText open‐source PDF file generation library, Batik open‐source SVG file generation library, Jackson open‐source JSON file generation library, and the JAMA Java Matrix package.) Version 4.4 provides 374 new entries with 772 new diagrams. The new content reflects the recent emphasis in research efforts on materials of interest for a variety of emerging energy and other advanced applications. These include heat-transfer and thermal-energy-storage media for nuclear as well as concentrated solar power; molten-salt Generation-IV nuclear reactors; next-generation batteries including micro-batteries; recovery/recycling of rare earths; semiconducting systems for laser diodes, photoluminescence, solar cells, displays, and bio-medical sensors; non-linear optics; spintronics (topological insulators); photoelectrodes (mixed ionic-electrical conductors); carbon-storage in the earth's mantle; metallurgical processing methods with reduced carbon emissions; electroceramics for dielectric applications; and glass-ceramics for dental restoration materials ![]() ■ご購入前に体験版をお試しいただけます
